Put Away Over $200 a Month With Six Easy Money-Saving Tips (FREE Printable!)

Saving money. Ugh, two words I’ve spent most of my life dreading. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been a terrible saver. The $5 bill my dad would hand me on Saturdays for finishing my weekly chores was never in my hand long. I would either spend it all on candy, or waste it attempting to get the claw to grab me something from the stuffed animal machine. Incidentally, I’ve never won anything out of those damn things!   Money tends to have a way of burning holes in our pockets. So many of us live exactly at our means. If we are able to save some money, doesn’t it seem like something unexpected and expensive always happens, like the car needs tires or there’s a visit to the emergency room? Budgeting can be difficult as well, especially when you don’t have any extra wiggle room. Can you relate?     Although it may seem hopeless, I’m here to tell you it’s NOT. There are ways that even the WORST spenders can still manage to build up their savings account. I know this because I’ve done it. In fact, for the last year, the Mister and I have been able to put away a nice little chunk of money each month to use for vacations or large purchases. To my delight, I’ve discovered that I actually CAN save...

Boxycharm Subscription Box: March 2018 Unboxing

Boxycharm is a beauty subscription box that costs $21 per month. They feature makeup, skin care, and hair care products, and their website states that they send 4 to 5 full-sized or luxury-sized beauty products in each box. The company guarantees the box value to be over $100. We will be checking out the March Boxycharm today. Boxycharm is my all time favorite subscription box. If I had to get rid of all of my boxes but one (what a sad world THAT would be), I would keep Boxycharm without thinking twice.     For me, no other box delivers the fantastic value of Boxycharm. Every month I find myself wondering how they can send so many amazing and EXPENSIVE products, but only charge $21! It rocks my socks! You can sign up here.   The Box: Here is this month’s box:     I’m so happy to see this gorgeous floral print! It reminds me that spring is here, and we made it through the cold winter. But Bae-cation? Really? What does that even mean? I hate using the word bae (no offense to anyone who uses that word, it just never sounds right when I do).     So I’m just going with the idea of vacation, which is nice for March, since most of us will be enjoying spring break this month. Here are the items listed,...

Ipsy Subscription Box: March 2018 Unboxing

Ipsy is a fantastic monthly subscription box, created by beauty influencer Michelle Phan, as well as Marcelo Camberos and Jennifer Goldfarb. It’s been around since 2011, and is the very first subscription box I ever tried back in 2015. When you sign up, you complete a beauty profile quiz, which determines the products you receive in your bag. Some subscribers don’t think the quiz makes much of a difference, but I have noticed I almost never get hair products, which was what I specifically stated in my beauty quiz that I didn’t want. It seems like they’re listening.     I stick with Ipsy because it’s only $10 a month, you get 4 or 5 sample, deluxe-sized or full-sized products that always come in a cute little makeup bag, and the company’s website says the value of each bag is around $50. Another thing I LOVE about Ipsy is that you get points for reviewing the products in the bag, and you get to trade in your points for extra items. I’ve gotten several awesome FREE items from my points, like a full-sized concealer, an eye shadow palette, and a crystal nail file.   It’s also exciting because your bag comes in a bright pink bubble mailer. Every time I see that super shiny pink in my mailbox my heart flutters with happiness! Let’s check out this month’s box!...

Bring It Like a Broad: Bitty-Broad Isis Brown Faces Her Bullies

Today is one of my favorite days of the month! That’s because it’s the day we publish our monthly series, Bring It Like a Broad!  I love it because it’s a chance to celebrate females, and all we are capable of . Remember, the purpose of this series is to highlight real ladies who are doing or have done the extraordinary. Our goal in celebrating these special people and their accomplishments is that each of us will be encouraged to believe in the possibility of our own goals and dreams. We also hope that seeing these women changing the world will blaze paths for all the little girls out there who will grow up someday and want to join their ranks.   This month’s Broad is actually one of those little girls. We’ll call her a Bitty-Broad. In fact, when the following events unfolded, she was only in 7th grade! Which just goes to show, we can learn things from our kids every day. Sometimes they display wisdom and courage far beyond their years, as did our Bitty-Broad.   THE BROAD Imagine being named after an Egyptian goddess. Now imagine that goddess represents magic and healing, and was one of the most important deities in Ancient Egypt. Pretty cool stuff, no? That’s how our Bitty-Broad, 14-year-old Isis Brown felt. In fact, people would often tell her how beautiful and...

In My Belly in 30: Vanilla Kettle Corn with Double Chocolate Drizzle (Popcorn Indiana Copycat Recipe)

I have a serious addiction to popcorn. Not just any popcorn. Chocolate drizzled popcorn. Oh lawd, nothing makes me happier than munching on a fresh batch of drizzled popcorn! My addiction began last July, right after we moved to Flagstaff. Mr. OG and I were super excited because Flagstaff has a Sam’s Club, which neither of us had ever been to. So we went to check it out, and I ended up purchasing a nice big family-sized bag of Popcorn Indiana Black and White Drizzlecorn.   I sampled it after we got home, and then proceeded to eat half the bag in one sitting. By the next day, it was long gone. I couldn’t believe the party in my mouth! So, the next time we went to Sam’s Club, I got two bags, which lasted two days in our house. Then I started craving the stuff. Like big time, ALL the time. So I thought I’d better stock up. We headed to Sam’s Club, and I went straight to my Popcorn Indiana end cap. To my absolute HORROR, it was full of tortilla chips! I frantically searched the snack aisles, and then desperately consulted a store associate. He explained that they ended their contract with Popcorn Indiana and no longer carry the drizzlecorn. Broken-hearted, I sulked home. I just couldn’t live like that, so I began online research. I...
